FICA, the Fur Information Council of America, was established in 1987 as the Fur Trade Association of the United States. FICA is affiliated with organizations such as the International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF), headquartered in London. Membership has increased steadily over the years and now numbers hundreds of fur retailers, wholesalers, fashion designers, business analysts, and editors throughout the country.
The French Federation of Furriers (FFMF) groups together most companies involved in the fur industry, from manufacturers to the most prestigious Haute Couture Furriers, as well as pelt dealers, fur makers and distributors most of the members of the French fur trade. The Breeders' Syndicate is also a member.
